# Community Behavior Policy

Musixmatch strives to create and maintain a community environment in which everyone is treated with dignity, decency, and respect. Musixmatch will not tolerate unlawful discrimination or harassment of any kind. If you violate the policy noted below, your privileges will be revoked without warning.

**Violations can mean immediate loss of access**

Musixmatch can revoke your community privileges without warning for violating this policy. A few categories below carry an explicit warning system before that happens. Everything else does not. Check the specific rule for the behavior in question before assuming you'll get a warning first.

Musixmatch community spaces exist for everyone to connect over music with dignity, decency, and respect. Musixmatch does not tolerate unlawful discrimination or harassment of any kind.

**NSFW content**

Do not share NSFW content, vulgar names or memes, or violent or pornographic content of any kind.

**Harassing or abusive behavior**

Do not harass or publicly humiliate other users under any circumstances.

**Hate speech and bullying**

Name-calling and derogatory comments or memes about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity are not tolerated. This also covers bullying or intimidating behavior more generally.

**Self-advertising, promotions, and spam**

Do not post links to personal websites or personal music platforms, and do not promote or advertise any business or product.

**Downloading and file sharing**

Do not share files or distribute music illegally. Piracy is against the law.

**Respect privacy**

- You must not do any of the following:

- Contact other users or Musixmatch employees through their private social media accounts unless they personally invite you to.

    - Ask other users or Musixmatch employees for their personal contact information or personal social media accounts.

    - Share the content of private direct messages in public community spaces without the consent of the user involved.

    - Send voice notes to someone who hasn't agreed to receive them.

Violating this section risks an account downgrade. Depending on the severity of the case, that can happen after one or two warnings, or immediately without a warning.

Use the official Musixmatch community [Slack channels](https://support.musixmatch.com/en/articles/214430-i-m-new-to-slack-what-is-it-and-how-does-it-work) for all communications, including reporting a privacy violation.

**Political posts**

Musixmatch's community includes people with a wide range of opinions. To keep the focus on music, the platform asks users to avoid political posts.

**Spamming/exploiting tags and mentions**

Spamming or exploiting tags and mentions results in a warning. Three warnings result in a ban.
