What is the meaning of the ISRC field?

The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) is an international standard code for uniquely identifying sound recordings and music video recordings.

Each recorded song has its own ISRC; different versions of the same songs (like a recorded live version, or a cover) have different ISRCs.

If two tracks with different titles and artists are using the same ISRC code, the artist involved should contact their respective label/distributor to ensure to have a unique ISCR code associated to their track.
If not, a new ISCR should be requested for the tracks involved, and the updated metadata and/or audio file should be redelivered to Spotify, Apple Music and other DSPs.
