How mission quality checks work

Musixmatch periodically selects a random sample of completed mission tasks and checks the quality of the work against our writing guidelines. This tells us how clearly the guidelines are communicated and keeps the overall quality of contributions high.

What happens if you do not follow the writing guidelines during a mission

The consequence depends on the severity of the issue.

- For most issues, Musixmatch sends one or two written warnings before downgrading your status.

- If your contributions damage the lyrics catalog, or show no care for quality, Musixmatch can downgrade your status directly, without a prior warning. Any pending rewards are paused when this happens.

How you will find out

  • Per Status downgrades FAQs, Musixmatch sends an email explaining the specific reason for a downgrade, along with supporting evidence. If you do not receive an email, your status was likely downgraded automatically for inactivity. If you believe that is not the case, you can reach out on the Community Slack Channel for specialized support.

Unresolved gap

  • No article in this knowledge base describes a way to dispute or appeal a downgrade that already came with a stated reason by email. If you believe a downgrade was made in error, the Community Slack Channel referenced above is the only confirmed contact point; whether it can reverse an already-explained decision is not documented.
