Note: Lyrics on Android Auto are a premium feature. If you're currently on a free plan, you'll need to upgrade to a Musixmatch Premium subscription before you can activate them.
Set-up
Open Musixmatch and go to the settings page
You can find the setting page by clicking on the "Try on Android Auto" banner, or clicking on the gear button ⚙️ on the top bar and then navigating to the "Android Auto" page.
Enable "Lyrics on Android Auto" in your setting page
You'll arrive at the Android Auto settings page. Tap on "Show Lyrics on Android Auto". This will redirect you to your phone's Settings, where you will need to enable notification reading for the Musixmatch app.
Connect to Android Auto to enjoy on your car
Plug in or wirelessly connect your phone, then open the Musixmatch app from the Android Auto menu.
Play a song and enjoy live lyrics
Start playing on Spotify, Apple Music, or any other supported player — lyrics will appear automatically.
Common questions
Can I see lyrics alongside other widgets, like navigation? Not currently. Android Auto's layout restrictions don't allow lyrics to be displayed alongside other widgets. We're working within what the platform permits.
Why does an empty menu appear when I tap a lyrics line? That's simply what Android Auto gives us to work with to display lyrics. The tap does nothing useful, but it's the only mechanism Android provides to make lyrics appear in your car.
