Yes — you can add lyrics to a single or album before it’s officially released.
This feature is not available for Free or Basic plan users. Only Artist Grow or higher tiers can upload lyrics for upcoming releases.
Step 1. Check your roster
When you add an upcoming release through your distributor, it may already appear in the Roster tab of Musixmatch Pro. Check there first before doing anything else.
Step 2. If it's not visible yet, add it manually
In the Roster tab, click Add release and select Upcoming release. You'll then be asked to choose one of two options.
Option A - Your upcoming release is already public on Apple Music
Select this if your album is already publicly listed as a pre-release on Apple Music.
⚠️ Important: We only accept pre-release links that are publicly visible on Apple Music. Pre-add or pre-save links from other platforms are not accepted.
Example of a public pre-release on Apple Music:
If you try to open the pre-release link and the page shows "The page you're looking for can't be found", using that link won't upload the pre-release on Musixmatch Pro.
Therefore, make sure that the link is the one of the public pre-release.
Option B - Your upcoming release is not yet publicly available on Apple Music
⚠️ This is a new option that we are currently testing. It is being rolled out in phases and not everyone will be able to use it yet.
Select this if your album is NOT already publicly listed as a pre-release on Apple Music.
We recommend providing a UPC (Universal Product Code) to continue — you can request this from your distributor. Once entered, you'll be asked to provide additional details about the album and its tracks (ISRC codes) before you can start adding lyrics.
Step 3. Find your Upcoming Release in the Roster tab
What to Expect after you add the lyrics to an upcoming release?
Lyrics are sent to Musixmatch partners before the release date.
However, we can’t guarantee they will appear on partner platforms exactly at the release moment, it depends on our partners
Your lyrics and audio are safe and protected — they won’t be leaked.
