To relinquish your administration rights from a work(s)/ catalogue(s)/ writer(s), please create a CSV file following our standard format, using this template, and upload it to the βRelinquishmentβ folder in your SFTP area.
To upload your relinquishment file, please follow these easy steps:
Put together a CSV file which includes the mandatory details of each work you no longer administer;
Connect to Musixmatch's SFTP area via your preferred client;
Access your folder;
Upload your relinquishment file in the already existing folder βRelinquishmentβ;
What is a relinquishment file?
A relinquishment file is used to notify our system that certain rights, claims, or ownership over musical works are no longer valid.
These files help maintain accurate and clean metadata, ensuring that our databases reflect the latest rights ownership changes.
Is there a required format?
Relinquishment files should follow our standard CSV format. You can refer to this template to prepare your file.
It is important to include all three columns SONG_CODE, VALIDITY_BEGIN and VALIDITY_END. You can leave the validity begin column empty, however you MUST include the song code and validity end, otherwise we will not be able to ingest your file.
The date format must follow this format: YYYY-MM-DD
Please make sure to remove any additional non-required details, and to remove any empty rows from your file.
Where should I upload my relinquishment file?
You will need to upload your relinquishment file to the "Relinquishment" folder in your SFTP area.
If you do not remember how to access your SFTP area, please refer to this article.
Who can upload the relinquishment files?
Only users within your organisation with SFTP access credentials will be allowed to upload the relinquishment files.
If you need to confirm the correct delivery of your file, cannot access your SFTP area anymore, or you are experiencing issues with file upload, please contact us at publishers-support@musixmatch.com.
