Please note that this article applies to localization our apps and websites, NOT lyrics translations. For translation guidelines, check here.
Below you will find guidelines for localizing the Musixmatch apps and websites.
โ
1. Tone
Remember Musixmatch in English is written in a friendly, fresh, and casual style.
You do not need to localize literally or word-for-word, it's more important that you effectively portray the same information, while maintaining the friendly tone.
2. Proper Names
Proper names or product names do not need to be localized.
i.e. "LyricsCard" and "FloatingLyrics".
3. Placeholders
Some of the strings that you will be localizing contain placeholders (pieces of text that will automatically be replaced with other pieces of text).
What do placeholders look like?
Placeholders are anticipated by % symbols.
The following is an example of string containing a placeholder:
Example : Level %1$d
โ
All placeholders should be left as they are and not modified.
4. Corrections
Localizing Musixmatch platforms is a collaborative effort; several localizors may work on the same language. To help ensure a consistent and high-quality localization for each language, we encourage you to correct mistakes or offer improved localizations where required.
You can do this by choosing to edit existing localizations or voting for existing ones.
5. Proofread (for managers only)
If you are a Crowdin manager, in order to complete localizations you need to approve strings already localized or proofread by yourself.
The localization should be completed when it shows as 100% - 100%. The first value indicates the localized strings; the second value indicates the approved strings.

Needs more contribution:
Following the below steps, you can verify whole localizations without having to individually address each string.
1) Once you have completed the whole localizations, you can tap the 3 dots in the top right hand corner of the language project dashboard
2) In order to approve all the strings in just one step, select all the strings, then the near grey checkmark.
ATTENTION: This method must be used only after having proofread all the strings. All the strings approved will be attributed to you and considered your responsibility.
